Natasha Riggs is a 1990 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law who has practiced complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels for over twenty years. Her variety of experiences range from litigating at large commercial firms, acting as general counsel for Bristol A/R, an investment company, and serving an externship for Justice Steven Reinhardt at the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeal.
As general counsel, she oversaw and managed the litigation department consisting of eight lawyers and dozens of hearing representatives. At Lewis, D’Amato, Brisbois & Bisgaard and LaFollette, Johnson, DeHass, & Ames, Ms. Riggs was involved in a wide variety of matters on both the plaintiff and defense side of insurance defense litigation as well as high-end business litigation, with cases ranging from banking fraud to employment litigation to medical malpractice. She is intimately familiar and comfortable with the varied issues and fact patterns involved with even the most complex of business disputes.
Ms. Riggs represents individuals and corporate interests in complex business litigation cases in California trial and appellate courts, arbitral forums and bankruptcy courts. Her verdicts include a $2.4 million judgment in Los Angeles Superior Court which she successfully defended in the Court of Appeal and a $97,000 award in arbitration against a well-known business litigation law firm in Century City.
Ms. Riggs has appeared as counsel of record for major exchange listed corporations such as Ryland Corporation. She is on the outside counsel panel of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and is qualified to represent clients in such matters as toxic securitized instruments litigation. She has also represented multimillion dollar creditors against debtors attempting to engage in asset protection schemes and trusts both in and out of bankruptcy court. Although she specializes in business litigation she is equally comfortable in such diverse areas as family law and personal injury litigation.
Ms. Riggs worked at the premier boutique litigation firm of O’Neill, Lysaght & Sun and continued to consult and co-counsel with Brian C. Lysaght when he became head of Southern California litigation at DLA Piper. In 2011 she co-founded Lysaght Law Group LLP with Mr. Lysaght and is now Managing Partner and remains active in all of the firm’s litigation matters. She recently obtained a Writ of Attachment with a zero bond requirement against Discount Gold Brokers, Inc., in a case pending in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. The firm specializes in complex business litigation and white collar criminal defense in state and federal courts.
Ms. Riggs is a 2011 recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate.
